under control

here are some paintings I did this weekend while visiting a good friend in d.c.

the cowgirl is on a card i'm sending a long-lost friend.

i'm home sick and feeling bad, so i thought i should at least try to be productive. i think i'll go back to bed soon though.

I was real excited to see recent SVA grad cecilia granata's piece for Time Out New York here. Her site on bird beak has gone missing, I'm assuming a redesign is in the works.

happy fourth!

monstres invisibles

explosions and fires to put out in the personal arena. i finally drew in my sketchbook. i love it when people fall asleep next to me on the train, esp. when i'm in one of those corner seats and their side profile is right there, it makes things easier. the guy on the bottom right had fallen asleep while reading a copy of Chuck Palahniuk's "Invisible Monsters" in French.

more from the sketchbook

i got a wicked sunburn yesterday at Jacob Riis park, and am home rehydrating.

Here are some sketchbook pages. At some point after college, one goes into a panic and starts painting pictures of their breakfast. The boy with the kiddie ride is something I'm exploring further...

I haven't made anything good in awhile, but here are a few recent subway and wandering drawings.

it's been too long. I dove headfirst into two new jobs before the semester ended, and have been in a weird place all month.

If you're in New York, there's a really good Neo Rauch show at David Zwirner, and Walton Ford is at Kasmin. The only bummer about seeing gallery work this weekend is that many are closed for the Monday holiday. The Darger show at the Folk Art Museum was pretty good, but it made me bummed because I realized I missed seeing Paula Rego's new work at Marlborough.

I'm working on some ice cream truck paintings...stay tuned.

The second (and better) Neil Young:

Woody Guthrie (no one knows who this guy is anymore, which depresses me):

But everyone recognized this lady (Donatella Versace), which I think is equally sad:
